Turning TOWARDS Truth

Making the decision to follow Jesus is THE most significant and transformative step a person can take. Jesus calls us to a path of love, truth, and eternal life. When we choose to follow Him, we embark on a journey that reshapes our hearts and minds. Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). This declaration serves as a reminder that Jesus is the ultimate source of truth and salvation.

In a world filled with noise i.e. podcasts, books, diverse voices, social media ‘experts’, and a MULTITUDE of teachings, discerning the truth can be challenging. False teachers and preachers often arise, offering messages that deviate from the core truths of the Gospel. These individuals may present themselves as messengers of light, yet their teachings lead people away from the true essence of Christ's message. The Apostle Paul warned about such deceivers, saying, "For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ" (2 Corinthians 11:13). It is crucial for believers to be discerning and grounded in the Scriptures to avoid being led astray.

To safeguard our faith, we must immerse ourselves in the Word of God and cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus. By regularly studying the Bible, we equip ourselves with the knowledge and wisdom needed to discern truth from falsehood. Psalm 119:105 reminds us, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." This verse emphasizes the guiding power of Scripture in our lives, helping us navigate through the confusion and deception that may come our way. Prayer and communion with God also strengthen our spiritual discernment, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us in all truth.

It is essential to be part of a faith community that upholds sound doctrine and fosters mutual encouragement. Fellowship with other believers provides accountability and support, helping us stay true to the teachings of Jesus. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us, "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another." A strong, biblically grounded community can help us recognize and resist false teachings.

Choosing to follow Jesus and turning away from false teachers requires a commitment to seek truth, grow in faith, and remain vigilant. It is a continuous process of aligning our hearts with God's will and rejecting anything that contradicts His Word. As we journey with Christ, let us remember His promise: "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32). May we always choose the freedom and truth found in Jesus, steadfastly walking in His light and leading others to do the same.
